YES Vancouver Connect – Bridging Our City’s Future

The current lack of effective communication among Vancouver’s residents is one of the biggest challenges in our city’s history, and it requires a dramatically new approach to address it.

Both the “left” and the “right” have been operating in silos for far too long. They have run out of ways to connect with the community, and their politics of division and distraction are going nowhere.

  • It’s time for change.
  • It’s time to say ‘yes’ to open communication.
  • It’s time to say “no” to disconnected decision-making and “yes” to empowering every resident to have a voice in shaping our city’s future.
  • It’s time to say “yes” to uniting Vancouverites, regardless of where they were born or their socioeconomic background, through inclusive dialogue.
  • It’s time to say “yes” to a truly connected, transparent, welcoming, and caring global city.

We propose the creation of a city-wide open chat room – “YES Vancouver Connect” – a digital town square where residents can:

  • Discuss ideas and share concerns about various city issues, from housing and transportation to environmental initiatives and cultural events.
  • Engage directly with city officials and elected representatives in real-time Q&A sessions.
  • Collaborate on community projects and grassroots initiatives.
Access up-to-date information on city services, upcoming events, and policy changes.
  • Participate in polls and surveys to provide feedback on proposed city plans.

Our initiative also says “yes” to these specific commitments:

  • An open, democratic process for moderating and managing the chat room, ensuring all voices are heard respectfully.
  • A professional, unbiased approach to curating discussions and summarizing key points for city officials to consider in decision-making.
  • A strong core value of welcoming people from every walk of life, and from across the political spectrum, to come together for the greater good of Vancouver.
  • A firm commitment to digital accessibility, ensuring that all residents, regardless of tech-savviness or access to devices, can participate in the conversation.
  • Regular offline events and town halls to complement the online platform, bridging the digital divide and fostering face-to-face connections.

The city-wide chat room, “YES Vancouver Connect,” is a digital space where residents can discuss city issues, ask questions, work together, and get the latest info on city services, events, and policy changes.

By improving communication and fostering a sense of community, we believe we can collectively address the city’s pressing issues, including housing affordability, homelessness, environmental concerns, and social progress. This open dialogue will lead to more informed decisions, innovative solutions, and a stronger, more united Vancouver.
Join us in this digital revolution of civic engagement.

Together, let’s build a city that listens, learns, and thrives. Everybody’s welcome. Every voice matters.
